Polishing wheels

Work up to a very high grit sand paper like 2000 from like 200 grrith then buff out to a mirror shine

Use Unilume. Best aluminum polish on the planet.

If its pitted aluminum you have a couple options but strokethis pretty much explained it for you.

Your other option with pitted aluminum is to clean them up with steel wool, shine with polish, dust with flour in a panty ho. It will help cover the black divots in the aluminum.

Other than that just steel wool them and polish away. They make acid washes and brighteners that help make it easier but someone who hasn't worked with them much if at all will end up with dull rims more than likely.

Id you use the steel wool make sure its soaked in polish.

If its chrome I always had good luck w/ a good wheel cleaner followed up by a mothers power ball w/ some mothers chrome polish...

black powder coat?
Clean well then use a polish type car wax on them. you really cant do too much for powdercoat though, because every bad thing you see is a scratch in the coating.

 think of it like the paint on your truck...you can't do a whole lot about a powdercoated black wheel other than what was mentioned above.
