Pulling tire size?

imelmo

Go away, I'm 'batin'!
I would've bet money there was a DHRA pulling rule that said tires can't be larger than 35" but I'm not seeing it in the book. Anybody know about this?

Not sure if its in the DHRA book or not but around here most rules state "tires must not be over 35" in diameter and must be DOT approved"

All it says in the Hot, Street Diesel class is:

Tires:

The tires must be DOT street tires. Cut tires are prohibited.

Nothing about size that I can find though.

Does this mean i cant run boggers with everyother groove cut out. I aint joined dhra yet but was planning on joining up next year or the next year when i can get to be somewhat comepitive

How I understand it is the only tire size restriction, 36", are for modified. That is how my rule book reads. Other classes only have to run DOT approved/uncut tires. According to DHRA Rulebook v2.7.4

$.02

imelmo,
Most pulling orgs, have a limit of 35x12.50. DHRA does not, in the lower 3 classes.

I have been preached at by several well known pullers that our rules shouldn't say this or that. Trouble was, it wasn't our rule, they were mixing up different orgs.
Its easy enough to do.
