Like the title says I'm in the works of going bigger in the turbo area. I am mainly set on the secondary being either a 364.5/74/.91 or 366/74/.91 both of which will be the new s300sx-e because I want speed sensors in my covers. Also I want to use borge compressor/housing turbos with speed ports and available compressor maps for reference, so that means no 484's or custom turbos. The next thing I need to decide is the primary/primaries. The goal is 1000-1100hp. Part of me wants the 482 with a 96 wheel and 1.32 housing because it will light faster, but I feel it will be maxed out at my desired hp. Next thought is the 588/110/1.15 but I'm worried that it will lag and surge during sled pulls. I know it has a lot to do with gearing, cam, rpm, etc but I just don't have experience with such large a charger, so I'm a bit concerned (how well will a 5.9 spin it?). Next, 2-63/68's with maybe .83 t4 housings can probably flow what a 588 will, but there is the added complexity and I don't really want to build them unless it's worth it. Truck haw 250% overs, soon to be cam (undecided size and make), dual fuelers and other supporting mods. It will also be used for both drag racing and sled pulling. Any input would be great. Thank you.

The S500 turbine in a 1.15AR either divided or non divided wouldn't flow much more than the S400, and they tend to spool well since they have an 11-blade turbine vs the 10-blade for the S400.

So the 110 with a 1.15 isn't much better than a 96 with 1.32 with regards to flow? Is that why people just run custom 488/96/1.32's? It just seems like a lot of compressor for the 96 and 1.32 turbine combo. Would you suggest a little bigger on the s500 turbine housing like 1.45 for my goal?

I was suggesting that you not be concerned about lag with the S500.

If I'm not mistaken you can get a .85 T-6 housing for the S500s too, right?

S482 with 96/88 t6 1.32 should be more than capable of 1000+ As a primary or single

I agree, I've seen s480's hit 1000+ but I don't want to be stressing the turbo or running it to the outside of its map, I know technically even the 80mm is rated by BW at something like "1300hp" but I want the turbo to be comfortable and efficient at maybe 1100. Have you or do you know anyone with the 482 being pushed to that power level for a good amount of time? I've already had twin and it's inconvenient to go bigger, I just don't want to make the step again after this build.

A local guy, efi tuned 5.9 cr, single s482/87 turbine. 1088 on fuel. Runs low tens for a few years now.

so i came up on a s591 with a 1.15 housing, any recommendations on the secondary? im thinking either a 467/83 or possibly a 475/87 (not sure about the housing) , also i decided on going to a 6.4L using .080 longer rods

Don't use an 83 turbine, They are very restrictive. Go with an 87. What class are you pulling in with twins?

83/1.0 can support 1000 I've gathered. But I'd wanna be a bit looser for sled pulling.

I'll be in the unlimited class, I won't be winning, it's more for fun. So after doing some more reading, I'm going to go with the 87 turbine. Not sure about the compressor though.

I run an s598 with the .85ar housing. It spools absolutely amazing on my duramax. My secondary is an s475/87/1.0, I wouldn't try pushing 1000hp out of an 83 turbine.

Do you like the s500 better than the 88mm you were running?

Do you measure drive pressure. Also do you run a gate around the 87?

I haven't measured drive pressure with the s500 on there yet but with my old atmo, I was seeing a 1.16:1 ratio. (60 psi boost to 70 psi drive). My old charger had a 1.23ar turbine housing on it and this s598 has the .85ar so I'd imagine drive pressure is up a bit. But i am also making 80 psi boost now. I am currently not gating around the high pressure turbo. Made 1140hp with no gate. I'm seeing 43 psi out of the 98mm.
