yeah so I found this little project car I am thinking about picking up for CHEAP..
I don't know much about theses older MB diesel's so I am hoping someone on here may have some info...
from what I can tell it is a 1962 MB 190D....but when I search that year car it only brings up 190DC??? is this a good year MB diesel??? I am sure it is gutless but maybe that can be tweaked a little????

yeah it does need some restore work...BUT it runs and drives(it has a bad clutch slave cyl)
what do you MB guys think???
any help or info or advice would be much appreciated!!!
I posted on a Benz forum in the Diesel section but NOBODY responded

It does need some work....but I think it could be a really cool fun project...maybe put a cummins 4bt in it later on!?!?!?!?

it reminds me of a car they would drive in russia for some reason...

it would be a pretty sick gangsta ride if you slap some 20s on it and maybe a new paint job

brett

Go to http://www.schumanautomotive.com/forums/ and ask away, these guys know their schizzle and are really helpful.

The motors are pretty good in those cars, just as you say, gutless, IIRC that is an 80HP mill in it (if that) so don't expect to pass anything moving faster than 10MPH LOL LOL

Check it over for rust really good, that's the #1 killer of old MB's.

Thanks for the help
I am kinda sad tho I would like to turbo it..but they tell me it does not have piston cooling jets so no go!!!:badidea::(

I went and checked it in person it is more work then I wanna do right now...I was looking for less a restore....oh well no biggie

That is a feeling I know well, I'm selling my original MB diesel (79 300SD, W116 chassis), and bought an 84 300SD (W126 chassis) just because I can get parts about 100% easier.
