Hello.
Next week i shall try to check the pump timing on a 1995 Passat TDI with 1Z engine.
Think i will try with VCDS and saw this nice guide, but i have some questions.

ALH engine VW TDI injection pump removal and replacement

I see they left the timing at 61 degree at fuel temp 124 degree.
When i tune my Dodge Cummins i have been told to get somewhere between 18 and 22 degrees, static.
Is the high number on the TDI, due to the pre-injection? Or is it the main injection, you time?

What is the reason that it will be that huge differences in timing due to fuel temperature?

Will it not be interested to have the timing versus rpm? Or maybe its enough to check at idle coz you cant alter the curve or?

It also say "Slightly advanced timing (above the center line) will result in slightly higher EGT ", I have learned that it give lower egt?

Best Regards
