Will the transmission from a 1997 4wd fit in a 1991 4wd? Mainly will the 205 transfer case fit to 1997 transmission?
Thanks!

97 should be a 47RE. It will be shorter than the 1991 transmission. The NP205 transfer case should bolt up, but I don't know if the input shaft will fit the splines on the 47RE.

I don't know about transfer cases.

But, if this is an early 91 with a 3-speed, you will need a new driveshaft, mounting plate and little plug that controls overdrive and lockup.

If it is an RE he will need more than a plug to controls OD and lockup. He will need something to generate the PWM signal to the govenor solenoid, based off of vehicle speed.

The 97 TCase is different. You'd need one from a 94/95, as the neck of the case and the input shaft are different.
