Universal Tach Signal

Should work. I bought their speedo drive and it is a quality nice unit. They make good stuff from my experience so far.

Ok, I spoke with a tech from Dakota Digital today, he said the one to use would be this one.

DSL-1E: Universal Diesel Alternator Tachometer Interface

I will purchase soon and report back.

Not sure if that is what you want. Seems like it will take either a alternator signal or a signal off a gear to convert it to the tach signal. The stock sensor puts out 2 pulses per a rev (4 cylinder) so if you have a converter to double that for 4 pulses per a rev (8 cylinder) I think your stock tach would work if a V8 was in there. I think the first item you showed is what you want to use the stock sensor with.

I am trying to get the factory tach in the dash to work without buying the tone ring and pick up from Diesel Conversion Specialist. This looked like a cheaper route if it will work.

The truck is a 97' F350 powerstroke replaced with a 94' Cummins.

The tech guy at Dakota was saying you just hook the leads from the pick up to their interface and then adjust the pulse to convert to the stuff in the dash.
I'll probably call them back and try to get someone who knows exactly what I'm trying to achieve.

Ok, called them back and spoke with a different tech who was pretty sure I would need the SGI-8 because I'm just changing the signal. He also said if it did not work I would be able to exchange for the other. Thanks for the replies.

If you changed your mind, I forked over the bucks for the DCS kit and it worked perfectly, same application as yours.

i used the dsl 1e off a 22si alt to my 89 f350 it worked great and was easy to hook up if u understand wiring
