We need to have a discussion on what a T4I flange really is

Everywhere I look I see the attached drawing referenced as a "T4i" flange, showing the bolt hole pattern to be roughly 3.5"x2.75".

However, there is a second bolt pattern sometimes called a "T4i flange" that has bolt holes roughly 3.5"x2.125"... This is the size of the "T4i adapter" I bought from these guys, and the size of the "T4i gasket" I just bought from Cummins. (Part number: 5260648) (I suspect this is what most of the internet calls a "WGMT" flange.)

The flange that I have, and that over half of everybody online calls a T4i, may actually be a T5 flange? Perhaps these guys know what they're talking about?

Regardless of what it's called, the Cummins part number for this gasket, with the 3.5"x2.75" bolt pattern, is 3072919.

Who the heck names these flanges anyways? Who says exactly what is a T4 or T4I? Are these proprietary company terms, SAE standards, or just arbitrary stuff random people came up with that kinda stuck?
