01-02 engine in '00 model truck

Since the 01-02's don't have crank sensors can you swap the ECM and harness and it work in a earlier 98.5-00 truck?

Yes if if you use 01-02 harness and ecm. Also some 00 trucks didn't have a crank sensor eather

I have a 99 truck with an 01 motor, 01 harness, 01ecm, and 01 pcm and it still doesnt run above 1500rpm. It still has the 99 pcm-to-ecm harness though. I noticed the 2 big connectors by the valve cover on the fire wall have different pinouts...just keep that in mind and dont end up with a mess like I have. Now ill be swapping pin positions to make this work (hopefully

Let me know what happens, the motor is already setting in the truck and the guy really doesn't want to have to try and find another motor or have this one pulled back out, he was told it was the right year and we didn't figure out it wasn't till we done had it in, we'll know to always check from now on...
