Myself and a couple others have been kicking around the idea of shortening my 01 2500 4x4 std cab to a short bed but most std cab trucks I see on the track that are 4x4 are long beds.... I would be lowering, boxing the frame, and possibly 4 link & cage the cab for safety. Most std cab short bed are 2wd.... Would I be looking at a traction issue if I shortened my 4x4?

The truck is around 6900 lbs but thats with a toolbox, plow bracket, 285 tires, gooseneck hitch, factory hitch, I dont remember if I had the spare under it or not when it was weighed

Let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

You will probably need to change the suspension, but I would think with a little chassy/suspension work you should be able to get it to hook hard.

its not all that tough of a job, i think its 18" that comes outta the frame and driveshaft and fuel/break lines

if i do it, it will be after the truck is 4 linked w/ a cell in the bed.

That is a awesome ride! I just dont want to shorten it and have the truck act funny on the track and have to chase down problems after the shortening.
