01 Cutting out randomly

Ok, a little history. In the last couple of months my Air Dog pump has been replaced and I've installed a new APPS. I have no codes, or check engine light and my fuel pressure is where it should be. Don't think it's the cam sensor cuz the tach doesn't drop off and it was replaced last year anyway. But the thing is bein tempermental. I can drive it one day with no problems at all but the next I'll be driving along and it'll cut out then back on back and forth. The engine doesn't die, it's just like I instantly loose fuel or pedal or whatever it is, no power then power. Sometimes it'll do it and be fine for a few miles then start again. For some reason, maybe it's just me, seems it tends to do it more on days it's warmer or when I'm runnin the A/C,but it'll do it with the A/C off too. I know this sounds crazy but I'm HOPING someone can make sense of this before I have to bite the bullet and take it to the dealer seein as how we don't have any decent diesel pickup shops where I live. Thanks for any help anybody can give.
 
To me it sounds like the computer on the vp.Thats how mine started.Try removing the quad see what that does.

Well I wish it were that easy, but those things are expensive. I'd like to avoid it if at all possible. In the event that I do have to get one, anybody got any suggestions on the best, most reliable company to go with for a replacement?
 
It's the same with or without the Quad. Is there any way to fix just the computer on the pump?

I had asked the same thing.The deal with the computer they can reflash it.The cost, all said and done around 600.00.Thats with shipping,pump reprogram.pump run time and new or reflash computer.All that and the pump itself is still old.Thats a bad deal.You can get a reman from 950 to 2000.I am thinking on blue chip myself.Once i donate some plasma my kidney and some baby gravy I am calling Blue Chip.

I had the same problem man and i just posted a thread before i seen this...but mine was doing it after i put the quad box on and my VP pump is less then 2 years old so i dont thank its that and then i put another TPS in it and it fixed it for 4 or 5 months and not i thank its coming back...i thank it may be the quad box...
 
Dude, I'm right there with you. I did the same thing and it's been about the same time frame that mine ran fine and now it's startin again. Just like the last two days, it's been hot as HELL here in SC but it's been running fine. I'm not sure about the Quad box though, cuz I took it off for a couple days (STOCK SUCKS!!!!!!!!!) and it was still doin the same thing, so I'm at a loss. I'm just thinkin I'm gonna be REALLY pissed if I spend all that money on a new VP and it still doesn't run right. That's why I'm trying to find out anything else at all it might be b4 I drop the dough on a pump.
