Ok here goes. If i am planning on building a full built 2001 dmax what disadvantages am i going to get by using the LB7????

Also if i am going to make a puller how much hp will the stock front 4x4 setup hold???

Will a be handicaped from the start with the LB7??? And should i consider trying to find a new year model or will the 01 work just as good as a new model???

But, what do I know.

What about the electronics on the LB7??? are they just as good as the LLY and new???

I want to pull in the 2.8 class so around 4500 i guess. Not sure what is needed for a dmax to run in that class to be competitive.

you won't run out of RPMs with the LB7 until 4800-5000. The LBZ and LMM (06+) ECMs have the ability to fire much faster. If you want or find the need for more than 5000RPM with an LB7 a stand alone engine ECM will do the trick.

You'll be fine building the 01 for the 2.8 class.

As for the front end. It should still live in a 2.8 truck. If you start getting up around 1000rwhp with it, I'd say the front end will start showing weaknesses but I haven't seen any doing that yet in the 2.8 class. ;) That's not to say they are "bullet proof" up to 1000rwhp either. There is still a good chance of breaking some **** up there from time to time if you are pulling competitively (a.k.a. up near the front of the pack) with the truck. It takes lots of ponies to be up front and things will inharently break due to this. :D

This is all just my opinion.

Good luck!!!
