02 Cummins Driving Issues

My buddy has an 02 Cummins/ 6sp. It has an edge comp box on it. When driving it will basically lose power like you aren't pushing on the throttle at all. It will take it a good minute to get from 45-55mph when it does this. It is random but does it a lot. If you downshift it goes back to normal like nothing happened. Letting off the throttle and getting back in it in the same gear makes no difference, but pushing in the clutch and letting out and then getting back in the throttle it will usually come right back. This is not a fuel filter/pressure ect problem. It acts like it loses tps signal or something in the edge box is screwing up. Any ideas?

I have had a dead pedal on another auto truck and this one just seems different, but maybe its just me?? Why does it come back as soon as you downshift or push in the clutch in the same gear? Have you guys had this same thing?

Have him pull the codes with the cycling of the key method. If he gets a P0216, he needs a new VP.

VP is dying. sadly mine is doing this occasionally also. Run it till it quits.

Really what I would do first is disconnect the box and see if the condition sill exists. If it does the VP is bad if not the box is bad .

Not always does the 216 mean you have a bad VP. Bad GRD connections and a dying LP will do it too.

Mine pulled that crap when the cam sensor took a dump.

Still did it with the edge unhooked from the harness.
