02 cummins motor n a 01 dodge 2wd short wide?

well i bin thinkin, an i figure id do somethin a lil different. im trying to find a 00-02 dodge 1/2 ton short bed an im trying to find a 00-02 cummins 24valve as will. how good would that work out? would if fit or do they make conversion brakets or anythang? need some imput!
 
Wouldn't it be easier to just to take a 2wd 3/4ton, cut 16" out of the frame and drop a short bed on it?
