My buddy has an 02 in his shop for a while now. Has code for no comm. between pump and computer. Ran like crap. I gave him a vp to try no change. Told him to check appsand mabey its the ecm. They put a new ecm in it. It run better but it still has problem now and then. He said it will go fine then fall on its face, let off the pedal a little and it comes back to life. This repeats itself alot, but some time it ran good. So i put my apps in and we went for a ride and it worked fine on the 4 mile cruise. Not shure if its 100% fixxed but if its not what else should we look for other than pump ecm and apps? He had the whole wire harness out from it and went over it, found one bad wire but it didnt fix anything when repaired.
Thanks rob

my brother has a 99 and its been in the shop for 2 weeks now and he has the same problems. I'm interested to hear what this maybe. He had a map Sensor replaced and they are talking about replacing the Crankshaft positions sensor but I really have my doubts that those are the problems.

I dunno if the map or crank is gonna be involved with this one. Its all the symptoms of a dead pump but a good one didnt change it.

Well it wasnt the apps. First thing this mourning crappy response to the pedal and throwing the communication code. I Dont know what else to look at. Any sugestions?

Dont remember the number but its, no communication between pump and computer. thats it. apps voltage was good.

Check your wiring between ecm and pump. I have had a few with broken wires and its not always a bare wire.

The entire harness was pulled from the engine and gone threw. There was a brokin shielding wire, but it didnt help anything. Rest checked out good.

fixer

I had problems similar to this on my 01, tried ecm, apps, map, cam, iat, pump, everything, seperated entire harness, pretty much dissected entire truck and talked to about 100 people. Turns out my PCM was bad. This was on a manual truck, sounds weird but its fixed.

Wow, this I similar to what's happening to my buddies truck. I haven't checked for codes yet. I hope its not the pcm.

problems

trial and error for me, but learned alot along the way. My truck wouldnt run at all with the communication wires running from the pump to the ecm. Guess there all connected.

Are pcm's like ecm's(the changebility). Can i throw the pcm from a 99 or 00 auto on a 02 6 speed?

PCM

I understand the PCMs are vin specific, but if the trucks are both the same-year model, transmission, etc. I would say it should work. Working out a similar problem with a friends truck, ill keep you updated.
