04.5 lly idle issues

Got a buddy who just stopped by and left his truck running while we talked. The rpms would jump up and drop back down about evry 45 sec to a min. He said it has done it since he had it. It will do it in drive or reverse also. Gotta keep foot on brakes good at a stop or it will lunge. No tuner to his knowledge! Any knowns on what could be his problem?

More than likely the FCA is sticking and causing the surge.
 
FPR. Fuel Pressure Regulator

It is on the back of the CP3. Stay with the same year/engine model when replacing these.

I was talking to him yesterday and he said at times if you mash it to the floor it acts like it has a trans brake!

Could that be fpr related?
 
he is usually good about that kinda stuff. he showed me the other day how he cut a slit in the inner fender to make it easier! But Ill remind him of that! Thanks for your help!
 
why do yall take the fender out, i change my dads from under the hood.

its to much wokr to take the inner fender out.
