I'm having trouble with my truck. I didn't drive it all weekend then I got in it and it was dead. thought the batteries were dead. hooked jumper cables up to them and it still wouldn't start. the gauges in the dash are bouncing all over the place and you have to play with the clutch pedal to get it to even turn over..and when it does it turns over slow.. any ideas? started maybe? it has 162,000 miles and I doubt that its ever been changed..

put two new batteries in it and see how it acts, most times when they are that dead cables just don't do the trick. If that works and it starts, then start looking for shorts or something this is staying energized causing voltage drain down,

Batteries would be my first step. If you don't want to buy them then use a multimeter and check the voltage at the starter then keep check while cranking.
