06 problems

So I looked at this truck for a friend he wanted an opinion on the amount of blow by. Let's just say it will blow the oil fill cap off and oil comes out of the dipstick tube. I'm thinking #6 rings?

I went through the same sh!t with my early '07 5.9 last year.....broken ring in #6 trashed the cylinder wall. Had to source another CR block before the new engine build could start. Good luck! :Cheer:

Yeah at this point I think he's gonna get a reman anyway. He just bought it in July too.

just because it runs doesn't mean it needs to be driven. make sure he knows that.

I bought an 05 like that a couple months ago (cheap). Guy knew it had excessive blow by but kept driving it. Found all 3 rings on #6 and compression on #1 broken, and #6 dug out a chunk of the wall .025" deep. Bored #6 out and sleeved it back to standard. Your friend has a rebuild in his near future.

Yes we told him, but whether he listens or not is out of my control. So we will see what happens I guess.
