12 valve fuel problems

i have a 1995 12 valve cummins that runs out of fuel just driving down the road.i let is sit for 1 min. and is starts up. today it was driving me nuts, when i got it going i pushed the lift pump primer and i heard a sound line a valve closing and it runs fine again any ideas on what is going on? thanks, Fred

hmmmmm think real heard..... what could possibley be opening as your pumping up the fuel pressure.....


something that regulates fuel pressure perhaps ??? what on earth could that be on a 12v....
