I started putting my engine back together tonight and while I was cleaning everything up I noticed my head has a few small cracks. Some are from valve to valve and some are from injector to valve. Should I condemn this head and get a different one or are a few small cracks normal? Also is there any downside to running a 1st gen head besides the injector holes?

I would have had it checked/milled at a machine shop to begin with.

Ya I'll have to do that next week. How much can be milled off of a head before its junk? I believe this one has already been milled twice.

Milling is not going to cure those cracks! It all depends on how much was taken off the first time, can't remember specs off the top of my head but I can look it up Friday afternoon when I'm back home.

Yes I know that milling will not repair the cracks but if the machine shop says the cracks aren't severe enough to cause a problem i would like to run it. If you could get me minimum overall thickness of the head that would be great. Thanks in advance
