have a chance to get a 12 valve engine, but the guys wife put gas in the truck and he said she was driving it and it locked up....i havnt seen the truck. but what could have happened, im looking at buying the engine.

At a minimum the bores in the p pump will be galled up...at the worst, if the motor really did seize and not run out of fuel there may not be much there to work with. Be careful and pretend like you are buying a core.

Good advise! Unless the guy tore the motor down for inspection and you know the full extent of damage it's a pig in a poke.

they took the pump off, and turbo and the exhaust manifold and sold them, i dont know where the pump went or i would ask them how it was, im mainly looking at as a start for a fummins project. i already have a different pump and a turbo/manifold here at the shop. what is a good price for this? im getting the engine, engine wiring harness and rear axle out of the truck for $350 if i decide i want it.

Look around some more! I once picked up a complete motor with pump turbo and all accessories for $800 and it turned over fine. You should be able to find one complete for $1200 or less.

I would doubt that running gas would hurt the engine much if at all. The injection system, on the other hand, would be hurt quite extensively. I feel sorry for who ever bought the injection pump.

I had to replace an inj pump on a 6CT because they filled up with gasoline. It stuck a plunger, luckily when they shut it off. The rack wouldn't move into the run position, so it wouldn't start.

Where's "your parts"? Fairbanks? Never heard of anybody having trouble selling a 12v that cheap.... most of them go for 1500-2k.
