12v heads interchangable?

Does anybody know if the head off of a 1993 ve cummins will fit and work on a 1997 12 valve? I can get one really cheap to o-ring.

I think they are the same.. The hole for the injector nozzle will need to be enlarged.. I do not have first hand experience, this is what I have read about... Someone will chime in and set me straight..
 
A 93 should have 7mm injector tips. I believe it was the earlier ones with the larger 9mm tips. There are also spacers to use 7mm tips in a 9mm head....

It will fit,i have done it few times .

Notice : You need the injector sleevs (9mm hole to 7mm injector) and you also need to grind intake manifold for overflow valve clearence.



edit: if VE head is from intercooled engine, then you do not need injector sleevs because they use 7mm injectors
 
only the non-IC engines had the large dia injectors... the head will be a direct swap except you may have to notch for the overflow valve. Take you about 5 min with a die grinder
 
With grinder be careful!!!

I was unlucky and grind the hole to intake manifold:doh: , there are less matrial around overflow valve than in P-Pump head !!
