My buddy is doing a ppumped 24V and he has a 12V HG that we put on. He called the local cummins dealer and ran the engine # and the guy said the 12V HG he had would work on the 24V engine he has. The engine is out of a box truck if that matters. I know when I spoke to the guys at Mumau Diesel and was asking about a Marine HG they said that you had to punch out a few more holes in the 12V HG to make it match up to a 24V. I know he meant this was Marine HG specific but I wasnt sure if this meant for a standard HG also. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing as "marine version" There used to be but not anymore. They are all made to the same standards now.

Are you sure they weren't talking about a CR block? IIRC the 12v gasket fits the 24v block quite well. But the CR block is slightly different and needs some holes cut like they said.

Have you already installed it? A quick check would tell you the true story.

look on the bottom of the 24v head there are coolant holes that go no where that you can stick you finger in. these are not present on the 12v head no either block why they are there who knows?? on the 24v gasket there is that red sealant to seal the holes on the 12v gasket there is none. i traded for a motor 24v that had a seeping head gasket right after install of a 12v head gasket and when i took it apart the holes that i am speaking of one of them ran off the gasket and leaked right off the bat. joe donelly told you needed to pipe tap these holes and install plugs to be safe but many have ran a 12v gasket on there with no trouble but for this guy it did not work.

HG is already in and bolted up. I just happened to talk to the guys at Mumau and whoever I spoke with said there was something diff between the 12 and 24 I think.
