12v in a 1978 ford

Looking to put a 12 v in 79 ford has any one used the C-6 behind a cummins and will they hold up to high H.P. will be converting 4x4.

The C6 wouldn't hold up to my Perkins when it was stock unless you spend alot of money on it then I still dout it.

Exactly what dale said. I think you could make it hold with enough money but why waste the time and effort and still have no overdrive. If you want an automatic look into something with overdrive, the easiest would probably be a 47rh. They have good info at 4btswaps.com for the 5.9L's. I bet that will be a tight fit in that old ford.

Nothing that a sledge hammer wouldn't fix my Perkins id 1" longer than the cummins.
