I decided to take 2 hours off today and do some tuning. Truck wasn't starting properly , had a lope at idle and a bit of idle haze. Voltage regulator took a dump and the new one Brad bought was charging wide open. I put another Mopar Blue regulator on and it's working as it should. Backed the gsprings off 1 click and reset the idle. Better idle, no haze, and running freakishly clean for what it is. Spools like it's wearing towing twins. It could use more injector now, and I might be able to go up on my delivery valve size. It burns cleaner now than it did with my 12mm pump. This thing is working better than I hoped it would. Thank you CDS. Looks like I better get an email to DonM for some bigger stuff.:rockwoot:

Awsome! That's good to hear! I wish you could have stayed a few extra days and ran it at the test and tune out in Samoa. Will we see you up here in August? Take care, Colin.

sounds good! Mike got his 13mm pump on and running Thursday afternoon. I was there for the maiden fire-up and was surprised how clean it was! it needed a click out of the gov springs... I think he was going to do that and verify/reset the timing yesterday and hopefully he's making some passes today. hope to see him posting about breaking into the 9's later today :D

What governor springs are being used? I have CDS 5K springs in mine. They seem better than what was in there before.

Did a set of there 5K's yesterday for the first time, basically take there instructions on setting initial plus 5 clicks and throw that away.......it was idling about 2500......initial plus 1 was perfect, FYI....that was .080 stud protrusion but they got some topend, now I'm going to have to get a set for me.

Maybe I'll back off a click or so. I have them at the 5 clicks now. It does start harder than it used to. And the RPMs did go through the roof on initial startup. It idles at 1000 in park now. But much less low end smoke, which was very nice.

Hey Ron, Good to hear you are getting her dialed in!!!!!! Wanna sell that 500 hp chip????

Congrats man! Are all the myths true, that being driving a 13mm pump on the street is a no go?

I think the biggest issue with them is when you run large enough DV's, injectors, etc. to keep them happy, drivability can suffer. With a more streetable DV and injector combo, I think longevity can be an issue. not saying anything against CDS or any other pump builder, and I don't have first hand experience w/ them. Just going off of what I've been told by others

That is the big question, and it will take some time to tell. Against the pump builders advice, I am running 181dv's right now. My plate and afc are to the rear, and my afc is tight. Really tight. I don't get any afc movement untill about 18psi and full fuel takes between 55 and 60psi. I brought it home towing about 6-7k over a number of hills and never needed over 20psi or over 1/2 throttle. Empty takes even less. The way it sits right now with a 64/71/16 over GT4718, Mach 7's, 181's, .084 lines, .093 cross over tubes, a #100 plate, and 25 degrees of timing, it daily drives perfectly with no smoke issues. It actually smokes less than it did with the 12mm pump. The next step is to see where the power is at. For that I am going to change to 024dv's to be on the safe side. If the pump takes a dump, I was warned. I just wanted to see if it was possible to do it.

Gov. springs

Jim Id have to wonder if you had something else going on in the gov. setup in that pump? Those springs setup in my pump with only 1 click would fuel super hard but give hardly any rpm, 3 seems to be a nice setting if you want hard fueling and dont need over maybe 36/3800, but in my case it takes all 5 to spin 5k, and at 6 the idle will be higher than you want even with the idle screw out all the way, and no matter what tune up thats in them it always takes some throttle input to bust off. Ive even shimed the "outer" or idle shim as much as .030" and went through all the diff options of settings with just more neg. effects, it really just depends on what your wanting the setup to do and where, but I might be leary of a 1 click setup for the poss. of it loosing up and causing a failure?? I never felt comfortable with any really less than 2 just for that reason...... just my findings and opinion though.

P.S. , I also think its odd that ive never been able "yet" to tune around the fact of having to have throttle input to crank with these springs, ive ran several others even 2 other sets of others 5k's and none had these issue. And the latest version of the Schieds had a killer lope that I admit I miss:hehe:

Odd that is for sure, I had it to 3500 and it had allot of head room still but did not have good valve springs in it, I'm sure once it does I'll play with it more.

Checked the fuel mileage today. Got 19.1mpg. I thought that was pretty good for what it is and the turbo's I'm running. Of course driving like a little old lady helps.

I backed them off another notch today. Starts instantly now with no pedal. Looking forward to putting it on the dyno Friday. If it does well, i will try adding my 6 x .016's for May 3rd. Need about 120 more hp to get into the tens.

sounds sweet, i put in a set of 5k springs in my little truck on a 215 pump. by far the best set of springs i have ever installed. i have to admit your 13mm pump sure sounds nice.

Hey Ron, Good to hear you are getting her dialed in!!!!!! Wanna sell that 500 hp chip????

If I get rid of the chip I would need to remove the stickers. They are a team. If you need to borrow them so you can get back into the 11's, let me know.:hehe:
