14mm headstud clearance problems

I took my truck out for the first drive today with the new motor and all the valve covers dont seal.They are not setting on the head on the stud side. Has any one had problems with 14mm headstuds not letting the valve cover seal. Are the valve covers thick enough to grind out for the stud.

It takes a little bit of patience to get them to sit right, but no grinding is necessary.

It just touches the webing on the valve cover, just grind some of it away

Ive already removed the web when I had 12mm studs. They sit just high enough to fit my lic under them on one side. I split one of the valve covers on accident when I tightened them down.

I know the new ARP studs have you milling the area just under the stud for clearance/

You could do like Joe Hellmann did and just cut a hole and then weld a little piece on top. Should provide plenty of clearance.

Thanks for all the replys. I ended up cutting the top of the stud off that stuck out of the nut to get them to fit. They are the A1 studs.
