What is the max HP someone has put out with a 160 pump? Im doing a build up and want to know if i should stick with the 160 or if i should find a 215 to put in its place.

160s can put down some good power. The 180 and 215 are preferred for higher RPM applications - not necessarily just for higher power.

Bponci made 630hp on a single 64/71-.8 with his 160 pump that had never been off the truck. The pumps will make some power when you set them up right.

Nice those are some good numbers for a single. I think it will be a good challenge and learning process for me to try and get 800hp out of the 160 pump. game on!

Been told by Seth and Weston a 180 pump with flat top plungers with barrels turned will do 800hp worth of fuel. I was told a 160 pump will fall short of that. I've never been anywhere close to those numbers so take that for what its worth.

I did 648 with a non bechend 160 with a 64/71 and .024 dvs, with the plate in the middle. I bet you it can be done.

What is the aplication for?

I had a 160 on my truck with a fully built motor and could never get it to go down the track much more than 4200 RPM.....most of the time it liked 3400.....

I made between 690-721 on 3 different dyno's and had plenty of fuel left over(58mm turbo and 2 stages of nitrous) I think Riles truck was a 180 pump when he cracked 1000hp. Do west coast trucks count?

Were the barrels turned in this non-bench pump?
Yes, and the engine ran fine like that. All this was done back before I heard turning barrels will blow an engine up. Stupid me!

I turned the barrels for a guy on a non benched 160 a while back and he went from 12.4's to 11.7's.....no other changes to the truck. Once the idle was dropped back to nomal it sound just as it did before, no choppy idle at all, the blip off idle is tons more responsive and crisp also. Prob. wouldnt even consider it on a street truck that sees lots of miles due to the uneven balance across the pump, but for an off road or track only pump..... you will see a gain. Ryan

Cool. I'm currently working on fooling around with a plate I made and some afc adjustments for my 62. Thus far i've liked what i've found but I honestly think most my gain came from afc loosening (smaller 62 vs. afc setting with bigger previous s468). Time and more fooling around will tell if a plate allows me to make gains I would not see with no plate.

Ofcourse west coast trucks count. Afterall, there are east coast trucks that have made "unbelievable" power. Just comes down to trying to narrow down all the variables.

Riles has run a 215 pump for as long as I have known him
