1998 12 valve wiring to run dash in a 2004-1/2?

I have a 2004-1/2 truck with the engine MIA and I'm considering putting a P-Pump engine in it.
Does the dash in a 2004-1/2 run on the same "language" as the 1998 12 valve gauges?
Is the 1998 12 valve the same SCI system as the 2003-2005?

I looked at it and that's NOT the answer I am looking for.
If I go any further, it looks like I'll have to start from scratch/investigate making my own harness to do what I want to do.

I already knew you could trick the OEM CR ecm into "playing nice", but I want to eliminate it altogether.

If I have to use all 1998 12 valve harnesses and dash, I may look into going that route, but if it's too much headache, I'll just scrap the 2004, then use the 6 speed to put the 1998 12 valve quad cab dually I have on the road instead.

FWIW, I have the "luxury" of owning all of the harnesses from a 1998 12 valve 5 speed truck, besides a whole other complete 1998 12 valve 5 speed truck.
