24 valve came in oil leak wasnt to bad, i used dye and uv light found oil coming down side of engine behind timing cover and some oil coming from oil pan. Removed front cover, found missing dowel pin no damaged gears or pitting, i removed the oil pan and i didnt find the pin there either Wierd. I guess the pin just got crushed it really wierd none of the gear train was damaged i showed the customer and told him he might need a new timing cover, i found no cracks in it though But anyway i put some Right stuff in where the pin used to be thinking maybe, a new oil pan gasket, crank seal. Now there is no oil leak.

Doese anyone know if maybe there could be just enough clearence between the timing cover and block that oil could seep through from the dowel pin hole? Iam am thinking so. what else could it be?

It's possible it could have been seeping from it. The dowel's there to align the gear case and keep it from walking around.
