My brother just purchased a 2000 dodge ram that had been in a minor front end collision .The previous owner had removed the damaged sheetmetal down to the undamaged framerails and left the truck out in the rain uncovered for about 6 months . We cant get the heater grids to cycle or the fuel pump to come on or any other signs of life we even jumped the fuel pump relay. My question is how do you hook the Cummins computer up direct to test it ? Thanks Rich

I would be willing to bet the PCM is fried, but ditto on the code scanner.

yea if the truck was uncovered, then more than likely the comp is fried... start with checking there... might possibly haul it to the dealership and hook it to star scan...

Thanks I will find a way to get a scanner on it we are talking about the dodge computer not the Cummins Right?

Just hook into the data port below the dash, the scanner will read both modules from there.

Do these trucks have an inertia switch to kill the pump in case of an accident?:poke:

Good suggestion but I jumped the fuel pump relay which made the pump stay on and it still would not fire. Thanks Rich

Discovered somthing interesting unplugged all three ecm wire harnesses on a running truck and it still cranked and ran it even had 1st and reverse. It may be the Cummins computer. Rich
