I have a friend of mine who owns a 2001 Quad 4x4 Automatic truck which has began to drive him crazy.Yesterday while driving it the dash stopped working completely and nothing works on it at all.All of the warning lights have come on also and the odometer shows "No Bus".No codes are able to be retrieved and he can not figure out what happened and how to fix it.

The transmission still shifts as normal and it will shift into OD and Lockup normally even though the tach and speedo do not work. The charging system does still charge as it was checked with an external gauge. We have looked on the diesel boards and even Googled it and seen different ideas and yet none have fixed what threads we had read.

So anyone have any thoughts on what could be the cause so we can get this straightened out for him. Thanks for the help gang.......Andy

The connector for the instrument panel wiring harness is down below the knee panel, just left of where the clutch would be. You can unplug and reconnect this connector to make sure you're getting a good connection.

But it could also be a panel gone bad. Mine did the same a few years back and had to be replaced.

Bad panel connection or just a bad panel, if the connection is checked and found to be good the easiest thing to do would be hit a junkyard and grab an instrument cluster, they are not hard to switch out.

Try checking either the cluster A or cluster B in the fuse box in the cab. I had one of those blow and cause the same exact thing. No dash at all and a NO BUS code.
