2001 dodge 3500 trans problem please help!!!

today my trans started acting up i drove it all morning was fine pulled up to stop and it started lugging the engine down i put it in park and the whole truck relaxed where it was torqued up it shifts fine and everything when going down the road just wants to keep pulling when you come to a traffic light or backing up slowly. it is possible to get the truck stopped it just starts to load up as if you were power braking it has anyone had this problem ? thanks keith
 
Torque converter locking up. ??? Do you have a lock up switch?
 
no i dont have a switch i can feel it lock and unlock in over drive like normal it just wants to load up at a stop like when i put it in neautral the truck relaxes some and when i put it in drive again it bogs down for a second and takes off
 
Sounds like a tight converter, is it a factory converter or aftermarket. How old is the tranny? When you say it bogs the engine down what does the tach drop too? I'd think the lockup would stall the engine if it was engaging.
