A friend of mine was asking about gears to hook in. He's got a 2001 HO 6-speed. Power modifications are Glacier Fuel System, Smarty, Drag Comp, 100 HP injectors, and a Southbend Dual Disk. He's disappointed he can't hook in 4th gear low and sticks to 3rd low. Is this normal or should he be able to use 4th low?

I use 3rd low, but will be trying 4th low the next pull... thats with 35's and 3.54 gears. 6 spd also.

i have always used 4th low or 2nd hi. i used to have 35's and 3.54's but now have 33" tires.

i have 4,10 gears and i hook 4th gear 4 low

Not to hi jack the thread, but what gear should i pull in? All mods are in my sig.. and yes, i know i will be needing a new clutch after the pull :kick:.

I use to run 2nd and on loose tracks could turn 4th low with 150's and a TST comp box and stock vp44 in my street truck with duals

4th low should be a pretty good all around gear. THats what I use, though I have 3.73's and a CR. On light Drag Race Sleds i usually topout at 3500rpm by the 200ft mark, and I would love to use 2nd high, but last time I tried that, I broke the end of the main shaft off inside the transfer case.

My bad 2nd hi and 5th low forgot which was faster i would run the 2nd hi most all the time with balls at the end

4th low or 2nd hi with 3.54 gears and 35" tires was my sweet spot. Need plenty of air/fuel for that though...

When I first started, with a drag comp, smarty and 150 injectors 4th low worked well...

How about my set-up with an auto and 4:10's. And half worn out bfg a/t 33's.

Get a set of sticks, and a converter lock up kit, and pull 4low. Start in 1st, once it winds out, shift to seconds, once second wides out lock the converter, and if you have enough power to wind that out before just over half track, shift to 3rd.

4th low maybe a lil bit too fast especially with 3.54 gears. 2nd high is a little slower than 4th low on the 5spds. The 6spds are opposite.
