Ok guys im not a auto guy so dont know much about it. My dad has a 01 that he just had a new trans put in. It came from " i think" Tri-Star transmissions, or someplace like that. I guess its a stage 2 trans, whatever that is.

But heres the problem, when you start going and getting up to speed it shifts from 1st to 2nd then back to 1 and then goes on its way to 2,3,and OD. could the TV cable be out of ajustment or is something in the valve body not right?

The truck had 140,000 on the stock trans also. The old trans had stated to start out in 2nd gear and have no OD. So dad just had this trans put in by a local auto shop. We would bring it back and have them figure it out but i thought id ask you guys first to see if the guy knows what he's talking about.

Any help would be awesome from you guys!!

Thanks

Sounds to me like a governor issue, solenoid or transducer.... Possibly the wiring didn't get hooked up properly as well... They are very sensitive to grounding.

I will slide under it tomorrow and check all the plugs and stuff, and then if thats not it just bring it back and have them check it on the scanner. Its not throwin any codes or nothing. It sure is more fun to drive with a good trans in it. Plus for christmas i got him a power puck. It sure woke that old girl up. lol

It might not throw a code if the gov pressure solenoid is clogging up. When my truck was an auto I had the same problem. Do yourself a favor, take it back to the place that did the work, if they do some stuff and still can't figure it out order the upgraded gov press sol online. It's way better and less likely to clog up and reduce line pressure.

Thanks for the info guys!! Bringing it to him on monday to get it fixed.

Thanks again!!!

Ok guys he put in a new 1-2 shift solenoid and he said different gov. pressure springs. It still does the 1-2 shift hunting but not as much. Could it still be the gov. pressure solenoid? What heavy duty solenoid are we talking about that works much better??

thanks guys

Tyler

if the TV cable is setup right its a Gov pressure solenoid. Mine did that too, I bought the GM billet pressure manifold with the Borg Warner sensor and transducer and never did it again. suncoast sells them from under $150, or Ebay
