I have seen some stuff on the forums about the rods in certin 7.3's will fail around 450-500hp. I have an 02 that im planning on making a 500hp truck. Thanks for the help. :bang
 
They will break at around 400 some guys get lucky and go further and some break at almost stock levels so no way to know for sure. Fordguy24 on here just had a bad experience with the pmrs in his truck to put it mildly and he was only in the 300 hp range.
 
You have PMR's.. Not the good Rods.. Forged Rods were in the '99-'mid '00 Build Dates (Some '01 trucks have them) If i remeber correctly
 
Depends ENTIRELY on who's tuning the motor.

I probably wouldn't try for 500, but 450ish is safe with the latest advances in tuning.

Plenty of guys runnin around on everything from 160CC/stocks - 238/80%'s on PMR's with no trouble.

Just pick your tuner very carefully.
 
There is an inspection plug above the oil pan line behind the oil filter that you can remove and see for sure what you have.
 
You will want to swap in Forged Rods for 500-550 hp.

Im guilty of testing the capabilities of the PMR's..... :evil
