2003 Chevy 2500

I have a buddy that is looking to buy a used 2003 Chevy 2500 with the Duramax. The truck has 35000 on it and seems to be in good shape(haven't drove it yet). I have no idea what to look for on these trucks, so some advice and information would be great. Things like general problems concerning the engine, trans, and so on. Also does GM have like an oasis report like Ford? If they do can I get the report? Thanks!!

Have a dealer do a VIN# search to see all work done at the dealer. Also check tranny fluid for dark color or burnt smell.
