I made a trip from Houston to California hauling 16k.. 10 miles from my destination. My truck started popping really bad around 1800+ rpms

rail pop more than likely. Able to monitor rail pressure?

Could be lift pump, fuel filter, CP3, or the rail relief valve. Easiest thing to check first is the lift pump. Either way, it is something causing a drop in rail pressure. I will say, it is very seldom a bad CP3.

Is it easy to take off? I would remove that first.

Not difficult at all to unplug the modules and leave wiring all in place. We've removed the entire harness on dads truck a few times to diagnose different issues. That is a more difficult process.
