Dear Pullers,

I am proud to announce the formation of a new diesel truck and tractor pulling entity for the 2008 season.

Wide Open Pulling Productions is dedicated to diesel pulling, and was formed to better the sport for the pullers with a standardized set of rules, fairer competition, and larger payouts.

I have carefully put together a very experienced, dedicated staff, track crew, and techs to ensure pullers get a fair pull, and fans get a great show.

As far as rules go, they will be very similar to the rules you ran at several places this year.

Here is a break down of the classes we will be pulling and the payouts that will be paid, this is a guaranteed payout no matter the number of pullers in your class.

8500 lb Street Diesel 2.5 Inducer

$300, 200, 100, 50, 50

8500 lb Super Street Diesel 2.8 Inducer

$400, 300, 200, 100, 50

10,500 lb Pro Field Tractors

$300, 200, 100, 50, 50

12,500 lb Pro Field Tractors

$300, 200, 100, 50, 50

I would also like to announce in addition to this payout, we will be instituting a point series.

Wide Open Pulling Series presented by TS Performance, Dynomite Diesel, South Bend Clutch, Starlite Diesel Sports & Lincoln County Motorsports, this series as of this date has $12000.00 in its points funds, thanks to these great sponsors.

A one time nominal fee of $35.00 per puller, per class will charged to join the points fund, plus the normal $25.00 per class, per event hook fee. This small fee is to cover mailings, administrative and clerical fees.

The points fund payout schedule will be $1000.00, 800.00, 600.00, 400.00, 200.00 per class.

Along with Wide Open events, all pulls at Stanford, KY and TS Performance Event in Bowling Green, KY will be included in this point series.

All info and schedule will be posted as it becomes available on www.wideopenpulling.com , our website will be up by October 1st, so put us in your favorites and check back often for updates.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me at stewart@wideopenpulling.com or (614) 732-1495.

Hope to see everyone in 2008

8500lb is getting to heavy. the more you weigh the more you brake when you get to the power level of the super streets

prolly to early to tell, but are you guys gonna make it over to the western part of the state any?

Way to go Stewart, i would love to see you expand the series up my way some too.. I you need any help let me know

Thanks Joe , I will be attending the Indiana fair convention in January to try to get some pulls up that way .

Nice job Sterwart, I just wish you wouldn't use DHRAs class names for your own rules, it confuses people.

Good luck on the "standardization", its a tall order.

And yes, 8500 is too heavy on these itty bittty drivelines.

We been using these class names around here long before DHRA ever formed , as far as standardrized rules go we have a pretty good start here in KY , and we are working with the State Fair Motorsports Board to implement a state wide Diesel pulling series and each fair or festval that want to participate must run the rules , we have done it with some other events across the state and its working well .

8500 lb Street Diesel 2.5 Inducer <- Call that little Gene

8500 lb Super Street Diesel 2.8 Inducer <- Call that Big Gene

Problem solved! LOL

See Gene When DHRA started the Super street class, I thought of this and it confused me.....

You may be right. We had never heard of you guys until a year or so after we were formed.

Sounds like a good deal you have going with the Kentucky fairs. Just remember, if they want to run your rules, MAKE them run them as written.

Nothing has driven me more nuts, than having a set of national rules made by the pullers themselves, and when they go to their hometown pull, they have --"DHRA rules-with modifications"

Nature of pulling, I guess.

As a daily driver/street class puller I am glad to see 8500lb as the weight class. It takes me 1 hour to totaly strip my truck to make 8030-8060lbs. Plus when I add the nrequired driveline loops(per DHRA), U joint shields(per DHRA), a helmet(per DHRA) and traction bars(to stop the hopping) I will be well over 8k.

I have to admit the lack of rule following thing is totaly out of hand. Some days pullers are in stock and the same trucks the next day they are in the street mod class. Depends who is at the scales that perticular days.

My $.02 worth

A good example of another problem in pulling, that should not be.

Actually reading the rules.

The only thing out of the three you listed that is needed in Street Diesel, DHRA, is U-joint shields, and those are only required on exposed U-joints.

About 25 pounds.

My bad. I just re-read the DHRA rules. I was confusing DHRA pulling with drag racing rules for drivelines.

The helmet is required by my local promoter only not inforced(I verified this time before I stuck my foot in my mouth again). I am waiting for it to be enforced. It will be my luck it will happen when I am at a pull a long way from home.

Not a problem, I have gotten screaming mad phone calls about such and such rule, 99% of the time, its either another pulling org., or our drag racing rules!!

Still like to see a little heavier wieght in Street. I stripped the truck completly and ran it down to 1/4 tank of fuel and managed to get one wieght layed in the pass side floor and was at 8k. Second day I was 100#'s over so had to chuck the wieght, at finals I put the wieght back in and was dead on again.

I did kinda like pullin in the finals with no wieght bar though, made the truck look better IMO not having ugly wieghts out front. Just dont like stripping the guts out of it to get it there.

Shoot, Bean, we were just talking last night about LIGHTENING the classes, hows 7200# sound?

Seriously, is it time to seperate the long wheelbase duallys from the crowd?

There are a few guys around here that strip their truck also to make 8000lb.some of them have after market big front bumpers and brushgards and tube rearpumpers.and cry the can,t make weight.
