im swapping a 12 into my 99 dodgethat had a 24 valve
we rewired the crank sensor off the back of the motor of the 24 valve and used one off a 12 valve that goes off the harmonic balancer.
the cam sensor is not hooked up at all.

now the problem. we can not get the alternator to charge. only way is to wire it directly to the battery.
the tach is not working either
also, the tranny will only shift manualy. and wont go into overdrive at all.

hers what im thinking, i think that maybe the tach and altenator is controlled by the cam sensor. what do yall think.

i am realy needing help with this asap. any help would be appreciated.
thanks, Eddie

The alternator is controlled by the ecm. You can get an external regulator from a 1979 dodge truck and wire it in. I can get you more info if you want to go this route.

The tach does get its signal from the CPS and the ecm as far as I know. You might have to get a wire diagram or buy a tach box from a place like EEP.

And your transmission also uses the computer to shift. Did you remount your throttle position sensor on the 12v IP?
