241 dld to 241 dhd swap

planning on swapping out the dld in my 01 6-speed truck for a dhd i just got. the dhd is the earlier version with the two piece rear shaft housing (from a 97)i know aint the best. is the shift pattern the same as my 01 dld ive looked around here but seen no definate answer?
 
ok so will the linkage and new shift pattern work on the old case and maybe just change the knob???
 
Mine didnt. I took the dld out and put a dhd in out of an 01 and put it in my 97. Had to shorten the drive shaft and get a stick and things from those years of trucks. Also took a different yoke up front. I have some DHD's with the small yokes but not many. It was out of a 95. So yours may be the same.
 
sold that case bought a jusk truck 99 dually that had a recent rebuilt dhd just got a 1" shorter rear shaft.
 
Ha, after reading what I wrote above. I don't know how any of you could understand what I was saying. I guess thats why nobody said anything else. Still easier reading than Calvin Millers writings.:hehe:

So was the dhd an option or what? Was it in certain years? 2500 3500? Just in 6speeds or what?
 
94-02, was an option in the 2500 and i think standard in the 3500. was found behind both autos and 5-speeds.
