I want to re-torque the head on my truck but I would like to know what most people are going to on stock bolts and if I use the Cummins sequence or if it doesnt really matter because I'll only be pulling one bolt at a time. I'm sure this has been discussed but I couldnt find what I was looking for in the search. Thanks

Mike

garmon does a procedure that goes well above 125, but I am only willing to take mine to around said torque, with my torque wrench!

He uses heat cycles and a digital wrench!

He(Garmon) did mine.
<------ see here LOL

They call him "THE" Jeff Garmon for a Reason!!! Call him sometime, he is a WEALTH of knowledge...

He's taught me So much....My stock head bolt are holding almost 800hp...I just checked them the other day cold..Still at 145-150 ft. lbs..!!!

Timbeaux's at 161!!! That's the chit!!!

You ever need anything, give me a shout on a pm or something and I'll get ya in touch with Jeff...... He ships tranny's all over the US now and they are second to NONE .....Just ask around!!!

So is there a sequence to follow or just take one bolt out at a time? I have the same torque wrench as Jeff but I'm not sure I want to torque my bolts to 160.

Well, Jeff does have his way of doing it but if you just going to do a retorque, I would not hesistate to take them up to around 135-140 in 5 lb encriments....

What HP are you trying to hold??

Im also curious as to what he does different? I want as much security as i can get

i got to 130ft/lbs on mine before the longer bolts started to stretch, but they do have 340,000 miles on them

Does Jeff have his procedure typed out in a instruction style page?
