24v internals in a 12v block

What are the differences in a 12v block versus a 24v block. I have a perfectly good 96 12v engine (minus the KDPed case) and a 99 24v truck with the famous cracked 53 block. What would be easier (or even possible) putting the 24v internals into the 12v block or swapping the 24v for the 12v. Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated!

There is allot to putting a 12V in a 24V's place, different wiring harness, different sensors with different threads and a 99 get's it tach pickup from the rear of the crank. Sorry I don't have all the info for you, I haven't even finished the motor yet.
