lookin at 2000 2500 with a 24v truck has been sitting for about 6 months from what owner said i put two new batteries in it and it will crank but no start any ideas? on a 2000 can I use the key trick for dtc's been away from the dodges for a while can't remember.

When you go to start it, just before you turn the key all the way do you here the lift pump running?

You can use the key trick. Have you cracked the injector lines to see if you can get fuel out of them?

cranking

I would check all fuses first, then crack at least one injector line at the head, with out cranking the truck and with the lift pump running fuel should seep out of the line, if you try cranking the truck the fuel should start squirting out of the line. There are many more tests to try. Might want to look on blue chip diesels website under the diagnosing vp44 fuel problems.

alright well this weekend I did the key trick got p1693 code. while cranking truck with at least one line cracked at head there is no fuel squirting out of lines(tried for over 2 hours) i didn't try just turning key on with a line cracked and let it drip. Fuses checked ok....

Sounds like the VP44 may be dead. do you have access to an OBDII scanner?

might be able to come across one when I get back to denver where the truck is I had to fly back.... sounds like the vp to me as well...... but I wanted to see if any one else had any othe ideas as to the problem

make sure you have juice going to the fuel system relay in the fuse panal under the hood...... i didnt and it would not let the vp work..... if it does..... it sounds like a pump problem

yup has bat voltage at pump with key on. and good ground will be ordering a new vp and lift pump and flying back to denver friday night

Just crank and spray the crap out of it with ether till it runs:rockwoot:
