Hey, Im in the process of converting my 01 auto truck to a five speed. I already got a hold of a 271 case out of an 06. My question is, this case didnt come with any slip yoke of flange yoke. Is one stronger thank the other? I have an 03 tow rig that has a flange yoke, so I was thinking I would go that route for the spare parts factor. I have a 1480 rear yoke and would like to go big with the slip yoke side. I think that is a 1410 right? Also has anyone built up the front shaft? I think there is a 1410 setup for a dana 60 around, right? Any advice would be great!!! And I you know where to get these parts a point in the right direction would be good. Thanks!

Also Ive seen clocking kits for lifted trucks with 271s. Any ever look in to that? There is a spacer to clock the case so I would think that the shaft would need to be lengthened some how right? I would assume legthened means weakened. Thoughts?

we have a few pulling trucks with nv4500 and have 271 on one and a 273 on the other both with 1480 yokes. u will have to slightly modify the crossmember for the front drive shaft to clear

You can reuse your rear yokes (1380 I think stock) on your new front driveshaft. I know a few guys have done this to save money on parts and as far as I know it works well... 1480's in the rear and whatever the stock rears are up front makes a pretty strong set-up
