First post here. I have done a good bit of searching and have been around other sites.

My 2001 Dodge blew up the transfercase and I want to replace it with 271/271. I have located a few Ford cases with the fixed yoke rear for significanlty less money than the Dodge cases. What is needed to mate the case to the NV5600 in my truck.

I have read all it is is an input shaft change and the shaft is available at the dealer. Is this a true story? If not, please direct me as I need to pull the trigger on something quick. $1100 doesn't sound exciting for a reman with fixed yokes or a new case with the slip yokes.

Also, I have a very trusty driveshaft man who is prepared to fix my shafts to fit.

Thanks to all.

Contact Getblown5.9, he did this swap already and did a nice writeup.

Well I put a dodge input shaft into a ford 273 case to mate a 48RE to the ford 273 (electronic shift) in my cummins powered Excursion.

I see no reason why you couldn't put a dodge input shaft into a ford 271 case and use it. The only potential issues would be the front drive shaft flange may be different than the dodge, vacuum switch isn't there on the ford case I don't think, shift pattern the same? (I think it is)

I personnally got a dodge 271 case from www.transfercaseexpress.com and they built it with a flanged rear yoke for my 2001. Give them a call if you need an input shaft, they have takeouts available instead of you needing a new one. You will need the front seal and the roller bearing that goes in the input shaft. Ask for Vern...
