I took the Turbonetics 66 off yesterday and put my sps62 on... I'm thankful I bought a mechanical wastegate actuator from Bullseye a while back and had it laying around. The schwitzer wastegate canister wants to play kissy kissy with the shock tower. It just barely cleared, and I think w/ any sort of engine movement from torque, it might have hit. Probably could have hit the can w/ a hammer and clearanced it, BUT the way my cold pipe is build the compressor discharge needs to point straight down, and it wasn't going to clear the 2nd gen oil drain setup I was planning on using.
so, I put the bullseye actuator on. now the oil drain will barely go on if I turn it around and dimple it. So, I use my 3rd gen drain that's already dimpled from the turbonetics install.
cold piping fits better because the turbo sits a little higher due to no T3/T4 adapter.
truck is obviously more drivable with the 62 vs. the 66, but man, I thought the 71mm S300 turbine wheel was the best sounding turbo on these trucks... wrong
that turbonetics exhaust side had more turbine sound and had a deeper tone (maybe due to the cone shape from the turbine wheel to the v-band flange? )
and, of course, the 6 blade 66 compressor wheel SCREAMED compared to the 7 blade 62 wheel
oh well, I'm not pushing that much fuel, and I've got a big, heavy automatic... the little 62 is just a better match for my truck. I sure do miss those sounds though
