2WD low how to?

get some locking hub for the D60 you got under there.

or take the DS out

if you have a CAD front axle, I would just get a cable for the CAD to replace the factory vacuum setup

I will say that I love my Dynatrac conversion though :)

Does any one have a parts list and how to for a 2wd low conversion.

I used to know all this off the top of my head, friggin CRS disease :bang

Basically all you need is a valve that you can switch from in the cab to interrupt one of the vac lines going to the front axle. I cannot for the life of me remember which one though, sorry :(

I think the hose on the left (towards drivers side).. I know when the one on the right got ripped off of my truck the front axle was locked in all the time.

DTR member Bnold did the conversion using a vacuum solenoid out of a early 80's RX7 emmisions system. The routing is very simple. There is a vac line coming from the transfer case running up to under the cowl. You remove that vac line from the "t" under the cowl and then plug it into the side of the solenoid. Then run a new vac line from the bottom of the solenoid to the "t" where you pulled the transfer case one from. Basically you are just putting the solenoid inline...

The solenoid needs a ground and a + wire running from a switch... That's it! really very simple.

thanks maybe he will know what year rx7 it came from.

Give me a second to dig up the info. I did this on my truck for about $40 and it works great. Hold please....

Switch on pillar provides 12V to solenoid to close vacuum line.

Flip the switch, the vacuum line closes off, put lever in 4wd low. The front can't lock in until the switch is either flipped off or the truck is shut off. If you shut your truck off and start it again it will be in 4wd. I use this all the time on the farm and love it. Backing trailers is no comparison when you have a big clutch that is jumpy down low.

You could elaborate if you wanted to buy a more expensive part. Instead of the open/closed solenoid switch, buy a dual port spool valve type. Then you can flip the switch back and forth and go in and out without having to move your lever on the floor. I took the cheap route and love it.

Piece-O-cake. :D

I think I posted the part number on DTR before they lynched me like a bunch-o-babies. If you have access to that POS website, search for "grainger" or "2wd low" or anything with "2wd"+"4x4dually". You may find it. I can't seem to find an electronic reciept for it on my computer in my email files. I keep my life in there. And I have a potatoe that says you'll lose 100 ft/lbs next dyno. :hehe:

You don't look like Dan QuayleLOL

I can look, but not search. Oh well, I bet I can figure it out by digging through the catalog.

Many-a-folks have told me this type of solenoid valve doesn't work for vacuum....and I've told many-a-folks that it has worked on my truck for over a year. I use it a couple time a month at least and more when I'm towing a lot.
