Hey guys and girls. i really need a measurement of the rear drive shaft for a 2wd SCLB nv4500 dodge. im doing the swap here in a week or two and need a new shaft made since the one for the 47re is shorter. i measured the differece between the two transmissions the best i could and think the 47re is roughly 7 inches longer. the driveshaft i have now is 60 inches from weld to weld if that makes sense. that was all the wider i could reach on my own :nail: so im guessing i need one for 67 inches + the ends that will be welded on? just guessing but would like a right on answer from you. if anyone could measure theres or know on the top of their head what the length is that would be great. thanks!

Do you have the yoke for the NV4500? Put it in the transmission, bottom it out, then pull it out about 1". Then measure center to center from yoke to yoke. That will give you a proper measurement for the driveline shop.

I guess that might be the only way to know. I'm having a guy do all the work if he keeps the automatic stuff, seems like a good deal. Might have to wait till he gets the nv4500 in to get an accurate measurement?

I just did the swap from a 47rh to nv4500. The first shaft should be 24" from center of joint to center of carrier bearing. The second shaft should remain the same length. Just my .02

Could you maybe get the overall length of your drive shaft??? That would be WAY helpful. And probly save me a couple days

I just thought of this. is there a difference in length of the 47re and rh? I wouldn't think so but just checking.

In for sale area is a drive shaft and slip joint for 20 bucks each. Contact him. Under dodge items.

Never mind. He scrapped it this morning.

It was an auto drive shaft on edit but slip joint would of worked.

Seriously, it takes 5 minutes to do this. You've wasted 5 days waiting for someone to give you a measurement, and it may not even be right. I'd hate to have a custom shaft made to find out that it was for a D80 diff and now its too short for a D70, or vice versa.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ what he said. I tried to help, but obviously you have a different set up. Do work son

No sir, I have not wasted one single day. The swap hasn't started and won't till next week. And its going to be taken place an hour from where I live. So I thought if someone could get the measurement that would save some time cause I'd have to wait till the guy that is doing it to get the auto out, put the manual in and get a measurement, wait another day for shaft to be made, etc.,
