Well I may be getting another Dodge and its a 94 3500 2x4. It is the heavy duty model (or whatever thats considered) with a straigt front axle and I would really like to convert it to a 4x4 for work and sled pulling. The truck is a 5-speed and this is where my main question is, could I just bolt a 4x4 tail housing and transfer case to it or will I need a 4x4 trans? Also what t-case should I look for? I know the front end will bolt right up under it and I have found a few around on CL. Just trying to figure out how long this swap would take. If nothing else I think its worth trading my 92 F-150 4x4 hunting truck for seeing how I know who has had the truck for the last 5 years.

Thanks for any help.

You'll have to swap the mainshaft in the tranny, or just replace the whole works. If you're gonna go high hp/sled pulling, may as well go to the NP271 right off the hop. Everything should be pretty well a bolt in affair, so how long it takes will depend how fast you work. A weekend, I'd say if everything goes well.

Thank ya. I dont plan on making it anywhere nere my old truck in the power department maybe in the 400 range. Just a good driver and a sometime toy. It would probly be easier to just find a good 4x4 trans. Are the hookups for the vaccum lines there or will I need to do a cable style lock for the front end? Now I need to put the new rear end up under my 150 so I can get it traded and start the new project.
