on a big hp 3rd gen dually auto are 410s going to be too slow?? set up for a very competitive 2.6 truck but will pull 2.8 at brush pulls. at what point do you make the jump to 373s and handle them good on all tracks??

gears

what gear are you pulling in? I ran 4th low with 3.73 a little faster would have been better. Final drive ratio was about right in 2nd high but the 2 times I tried it blew the g56 up

sorry

sorry see now that you were asking about an automatic. according to mph calculators looks like you need to run 3.42s in 2nd or 4.88s in 3rd if you have a 700hp truck. Or if you are looking at a final drive ratio you probably need to be around 13. Hope that helps

If I am doing this right 4.10s will give you a final of 11.15(fast). With 3.73s your final will be 10.14(very fast). 4.88s the final would be 13.2(slow). I run 4.56s and my final is 12.4 good for short tracks or bigger tires. I would think 4.10s would be best at 4000+rpms then just adjust between 35s and 33" tires.

I always shift up to drive and never shift down even on hard tracks but with my new truck Im thinking 373s with the extra hp. watching lots of vids Im thinking the 410s are a little slower. just wondering at what hp is a truck comfortable with 373s in drive on hard tracks?

I pull on some hard biting tracks. I'm mid 7's on hp with 33 sts's and 3:73's. I shift up to drive and lock the converter but will always have to unlock at the end cause it won't spin out locked. I wish I had 4:10's cause I think I could leave it locked and spin out.

Its got 410s in it now and Ill try it before Id change them but Im thinking they will be changed to 373s,just looking for someone whos running the big hp already and can say how it handles the 373s.

here is my truck with a new setup and a new set of 3.73's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_1yQSc2iSo
I only have 3 hooks on the new setup and still dialing it in. but I think the switch to these gears over the 4.10's last year with alot less power was a huge step in the right direction... the only problem I see with them is it is sometimes a beeaoch to get it lit off the line.

is it just me or did it only shift to 2nd and not drive in this vid??? looks a little fast for 2nd but its not 410s either. only heard 1 shift.

My truck has always shifted to second really fast making it sound like it only shifted once. But if I don't have od locked out it will grab so I know it is hitting 3rd locked

My truck has always shifted a fast 1-2, 3rd is the only shift you can hear, it came with 3.73 so I'm gonna leave them for now. Hopefully the extra rpm will not be too much.
